Have you ever been to Florida? I have. Ever since I was thirteen years old and saw the ocean for the first time I wanted to live near the ocean. The fact that I grew up in Pennsylvania and didn't like cold weather narrowed my choices down to Florida or Southern California. I wanted a hot, muggy climate akin to a tropical rainforest so Florida it was.

I lived in Miami, Orlando and Port Charlotte on Florida's West Coast. I liked Miami the best, and still do, in spite of the fact that I don't speak spanish. It's an exotic city, with people of many cultures, and can be exciting and interesting.

I've also lived in Los Angeles (not bad either, especially Malibu and northward along the Pacific Coast Highway). Seattle was my home for nine years and Detroit for eight. Even Milwaukee got a year of my life. I didn't care, at all, for these last three. Warmth...remember?

Well, let's move on...

If you're into appearance here's my stats:

6'2", 218 pounds, silver-gray hair, blue eyes, 61 years old.

I grew up in a small, rural town in Central Pa. where I returned two years ago to retire. The town hasn't changed much in forty years; still the same houses (only a handful of new ones), the same stores, except for a new Burger King and an (unsuccessful) coffee shop, a Chinese restaurant and a few other very small businesses that took over vacant storefronts.

Almost all of the workforce must commute to towns away from here to make a decent living. By "decent" I'm mean subsistance, as wages are deplorably low in this area. But...folks have roots here that go back 150 years, and everything they know and care about is in these Allegheny Mountains.

I graduated high school here in 1965 and left the day after. Atlantic City Maryland and Ocean City NJ is where I headed. There, I worked pumping gas and partying. After a few months of that,  I traveled to Long Island, NY to mooch from an aunt of a friend. It was fun, and I fell into a drinking and beach-partying crowd. At that time the drinking age in NY was eighteen. That was the start of a decades-long addiction to alcohol...

Travel where?!

Some day I'm going to travel to Ireland (the home of my ancestors)  New Zealand and Australia. I'd also like to visit the Peruvian Andes.

FAVORITE STUFF

Movies:Number one is Titanic. It appeals to the romantic in me. Scarface, Gangs of New York, Memoirs of a Geisha, As Good as it Gets, Blood Diamond, The Bourn Identity - Supremacy - Ultimatum, are all ones I like. Only care for one or two horror movies though. Most of them bore me. The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Silence of the Lambs are the only ones I really like.

Actors: Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Jody Foster, Chris Cooper, Jack Nicolson, Franke Potente, Vincent Price (I worked with him), Wesley Snipes (worked with him, too), Al Pacino, Kate Winslet, Leo DiCaprio and Laura Linley.

Food: Definitely Chinese followed distantly by Mexican, German, and junk.

Color: Metal is Silver, stone is Crystal, colors are Yellow-green, Orange, and pale violet. But my absolute favorite is Pink. Pink for a guy, you say? Yes! it's both warm (remember, I like warm) and soothing, unlike red. I'm not gay, but if I was I'd still like pink.

Music:  I like mostly Pop, world and New Age music. Not the Yanni stuff (makes me yawn) or the John Tesch elevator music, but more like the Afro Celtic Sound System , Zap Mama, Edith Piaf (French folk, I know) Mylene Farmer, The Chieftans, Loreena McKennitt, Celine Dion, Enigma ...and good rock from the sixties and early seventies does it for me too.
